What's New with Uncle Cheffy?

How's everyone's summer going so far? I hope you're all enjoying your summer getaways despite the heat!

I'm sure everyone's quite familiar with Uncle Cheffy right? There are currently more than 20+ branches of Uncle Cheffy within the Metro Manila area and it would not be hard to spot one. They're a growing establishment and they're always trying to give everyone something new to try, always researching on new flavors that will suit the palate of their customers.

So, what new dishes does Uncle Cheffy have in store for us? They have been experimenting for quite some time already, and these new dishes in their menu were unveiled to fellow media and bloggers last April in their McKinley branch. So, what is the main ingredient for these new dishes you ask? It's actually corned beef. Not the canned ones mind you, but the natural unprocessed ones. They actually incorporated corned beef into different dishes like pizza, pasta, salpicao, curry, and even sinigang.

I was lucky enough to meet the owner of Uncle Cheffy, Mr. Larry Cortez, and also their main chef, Mr. Marc Anthony Lajom-Pangan, during the bloggers event. Mr. Cortez was very friendly and shared a lot of stories on how they started Uncle Cheffy and how it was able to grow into the big franchise that it is now. He was very down to earth and it's no surprise that all his hard work has paid off.

Moving on, let's get down to knowing the new dishes of Uncle Cheffy!

Corned Beef Panizza (P495)
The combination of corned beef and cheesy goodness in a pizza. I've always liked panizza and this one goes to my must-try again list. I love how the corned beef's flavor really comes out and the cheese is just the perfect backdrop to go with it. With alfalfa sprouts on top, my panizza experience is complete.

Corned Beef Pasta (P160/P230)
I haven't really tried corned beef and pasta together. Topped with other ingredients like olives, onions, and tomatoes, this dish is altogether a nice surprise. I do find it lacking a bit in sauce though.

Corned Beef Sinigang (P195/P350)
Well this dish is something new! I am used to sinigang with lots of soup, but for this dish you can see that there is more meat than soup. If you like your sinigang really sour, this could be the thing lacking. Aside from this, I can say that the corned beef tasted really nice.

Corned Beef and Mushroom Salpicao (P295)
Salpicao fan here! Definitely a must-try if you're one of those salpicao lovers like me. Lots of meat and mushrooms here yum!!!

Corned Beef Curry (P295)
Never thought of seeing corned beef and curry in the same phrase. I must say that the combination's really good. It's quite a unique dish, and I'm sure curry lovers would appreciate this. I wonder if the chef would also think of combining corned beef with Japanese curry. Now that's a thought!

Mediterranean Corned Beef (P320)
My favorite dish of the bunch! This dish provided the most flavor for me. The sauce really goes well with rice too. Do me a favor and make sure to order this dish the next time you try Uncle Cheffy.

Uncle Cheffy's Fried Chicken
As a special treat, and maybe to divert our taste buds from corned beef flavor dishes, we were also served Uncle Cheffy's fried chicken. Mr. Cortez even chopped the chicken personally for us. Talk about great customer service! The meat was really tender and even though I have tried a great amount of fried chicken in my whole lifetime, I can say that this is good! It also went really well with the special banana sauce served alongside the chicken.

To cap off the night, we even played a short game of quiz night. Totally fun even if our team didn't win haha! We even got to meet Uncle Cheffy in person. What a delight! Thanks again for the warm welcome Mr. Cortez! :)

Ciao!
