The Boiling Seafood Experience

Another Alabang escapade! I've suddenly been coming here more often for the past few months, and during one of those visits I was able to try out this great seafood restaurant called The Boiling Seafood. I'm excited to share with you guys the yummy seafood we were able to partake that day. Crabs, shrimps, clams, and mussels you name it we tried it! These were dipped in different sauces that are all mouth-wateringly good.

Let's take a look at the dishes we sampled that day. Everything's really good I must say! There are 5 types of sauces that you can choose from the menu. Your choice of seafood will arrive covered in plastic dipped in the sauce of your choice as well. You can choose how many grams of seafood you want to order.

All the tables are already laden with buckets and aprons that you can use later on while eating. You throw the shells in the bucket and the apron will help you avoid unnecessary stains on the shirt. You may also use your hands here so that you will be able to eat more servings of the shrimps and crabs.

The first dish served was the appetizer of Crispy Calamari (P285). It tasted really good with just the right amount of crispiness.

Next up was Pirate Paul's Buffalo Wings (P295/6pcs or P575/12pcs) which are fried and cooked with sweet and mildly spicy sauce served with ranch dressing. This is how I love my wings! Sweet but not too spicy!

This is the moment we have all been waiting for as the main course is finally served! Seafood heaven here we come! Here's a tip on how to order from the seafood menu:

Step 1: Pick your seafood (shrimps, crabs, clams, or lobster)
Step 2: Pick your sauce (cajun, sweet chili garlic, aligue, coconut curry, or butter garlic)
Step 3: How hot do you want it? (Tame, Mild, or Wild)

Cajun Sauce - I love the combination of the slightly spicy and garlicky flavor as it added to the taste of the mussels. (Mussels are P325/ 400grams)

Sweet Chili Garlic Sauce - This is my favorite sauce among them all. I love sweet chili and luckily they served this in the tame version as I don't like them super spicy. (Shrimps are P595/ 350grams)

Coconut Curry Sauce - If you're not a big fan of coconut curry, then you'll be after this one. The curry taste is not too overpowering and it mixed really well with the clams. (Clams are P325/ 400 grams).

Aligue (Crab Fat) Sauce - Cholesterol is the first word that comes to mind but I can't help but get second servings as this dish of shrimps with crab fat is sooooo good! (Shrimps are P595/ 350grams).

Of course, the day would not be complete without the crab!!! Crab Garlic Overload (P195/ 100 grams) was also served and whew it was so yummy that it definitely made my day! You can even ask the servers to crack open the shells for you.

After we thought that all the food had already been served to us, we were surprised that they still served the BBQ Hickory Baby Back Ribs (full slab P995/ half slab P565). Tasty rib goodness glazed with apple bbq sauce served with fries on the side. This is one heavy meal and I feel that this is really worth the money. Will definitely order this again!

Before going home, they even let us take home a dish of Creamy Marinara Pasta which was very creamy and flavorful. I even ordered this dish again on my second visit to the Boiling Seafood.

Thank you to Mr. Paul Benito for the very warm welcome. Will definitely return many more times!

Ciao!

Burgers and Brewskies: For the Love of Burger and Beer

Anyone living in Pasig will be happy to know that Burgers and Brewskies has opened a second branch in Estancia Mall in Capitol Commons. The first branch is at Burgos Circle in BGC. So whether you're living in the north or south area, there will be no reason not to be able to try out this restaurant.

I was invited to a food event last month in B&B to try out some of the food on their menu. This was not my first time in B&B as I had already tried out their burgers before. I found their food delicious so I didn't have second thoughts on attending this food event even if it's really far from my place. The owners were there as well and they were really nice and accommodating. The food that were served ranged from appetizers to dessert. I was really full by the end of the night.

Let's now have a glimpse of the sumptuous feast that was served to us:

First up were the seasonal offers!

Avocado Fries: This tasted like natural avocado with no sweetened flavor mixed in flour and fried to perfection.

Guacamole Burger: I felt like I was eating Mexican food with this burger because of the guacamole and the salsa mixed together making it taste kinda like quesadillas.

First Round:

Angry Korean Wings (P205): Really spicy but really tasty. Fans of spicy wings would love this!

Bacon Chicharon (P210): Woah the cholesterol! This is really sinful but it's so addicting, you simply can't get enough. One order might be bitin though.

Fish Poppers (P220): I thought this was calamares when the order first came out. Surprisingly, it was actually fish. The texture is soft and it tasted really good with the sauce.

Sausage Platter (P585): Three different sausages in one dish! These were the Grilled Bavarian Smokies, Hungarian, and Thuringer Bratwurst. I'm a fan of sausages and I feel that these all tasted delish!

B&B Nachos (P240): Nachos served with cheese sauce, jalapeƱos, and tomato salsa. Yummers!

Second Round:

S.P.F. Sweet Potato Fries (P65): A little twist from normal fries, and this tasted quite good.

Cuban Missile Grilled Corn (P120): Ask the server to shred the corn for you. The corn mixed with cheese made it super addictive. Once you start, you can't stop popping more into your mouth!

Honey Garlic Wings (P195): My favorite of all the wings dishes served because of the sweet flavor, not to mention I love garlic as well. This combination is the bomb!
Salt & Pepper Wings (P195): This wing dish is good too as it's really flavorful, and it's not too salty either. I would seriously consider ordering all the wings dishes as they all taste so good!

Cheesy Bacon Fries (P125): This is such a common dish, but I enjoyed it all the same due to the cheese overload and crispy bacon bits.

Whew! So many dishes even before the main specialties came out. No wonder we were really full. After all these dishes came a bevy of burgers. Gosh where do we fit all this in?

What a feast!
Burger Overload!

Burgers:

Call the Nurse (P280): One of the specialties of B&B! Lots of people order this because of the very unique concept wherein there's mac and cheese inside the burger topped with honey bacon. It's also oozing with cheese so yummy! First-timers at B&B who don't know what to order can try this out first.

Kandi (P265): Another bestseller of B&B. If I remember correctly, this was the first burger I tried here. One of the reasons why I keep on wanting to come back to B&B. I really love the taste of the spiced candied bacon as it tastes sweet but there's also a hint of spiciness. It also has roasted garlic and onions in it.

Walk of Shame (P340): The design of this burger is so unique. There's a whole egg inside the burger's bun. The bun is turned upside down when served so that you can immediately see the egg. One of the owners demonstrated how this should be eaten so that you can taste all the flavors together.

Hector Salamanca (P240): Smoking hot! The menu's not kidding when it says that the contents are hot. The fries and the meat itself are so spicy that I don't think I can finish a whole order of this. This one's best for people who love all things spicy. It's as hot as tabasco sauce.

P. Sherman (P250): From the name itself, you would immediately get the idea that this is a fish burger (P. Sherman is the dentist who held Nemo captive in his aquarium). I love how this tastes, and a welcome change from all the beef burgers that we tried for the night.

Don't Have A Cow (P190): This burger has lots of shitake mushrooms in it. As I'm such a mushroom lover, I immediately enjoyed this and loved how the curry ketchup added much needed flavor to the burger even though it's not a combination you would immediately think of.

Now on to the desserts on the menu!

Desserts:

B&B Chocolate Pudding with Cinnamon Oatmeal Streusel (P105): This is dark chocolate pudding with a little twist on top. It's topped with a crumbly combination of cinnamon and oatmeal. The flavors do really mix well together.

Creamy Soy Panna Cotta with Spiced Candied Bacon (P85): This dessert tastes really unique as the flavors were in contrast as the panna cotta is sweet while the candied bacon is salty and somewhat spicy. Nice to try this one out, but might not be for those who are not adventurous with their desserts.

Chef (P150): This dessert is just plain vanilla ice cream but with spiced choco powder and spiced candied bacon on top. I think this is an acquired taste as the combination does not really seem to mesh well together for me.

Even though the specialty of B&B is beer and there are a lot of different beer to choose from, I was only able to try out two of their cocktail drinks.

Drinks:
Dirty Arnold (P140): I love the mix of pineapple, lemonade, and vodka in this drink.

Lychee Mojito (P160): This is such a girly drink, and I totally love the combination of lychees with white rum!

Thank you to the very nice and accommodating owners (Marc Nocon, Mike Floro, Francis Balbarin) for a night of fun, food, and good drinks. Will surely come back to B&B for more!

Macarons for desserts anyone? Mrs. Graham's Macarons Cafe is worth a try!

My favorite part of eating at a buffet restaurant would be the dessert part. I have a sweet tooth, and most of the time I would crave something sweet after eating a meal. I just try to control it so that I won't get fat haha. Dessert and coffee go really well together, and I love trying out newly opened cafes. My friend told me one time that she tried out Mrs. Grahams' Macarons Cafe and looking at her pictures it looked like a very cute and quaint place with yummy-looking desserts to boot. I couldn't wait to try it out myself!

One rainy Wednesday night, I was finally able to try this cute little cafe with some girl friends. I had a blast taking pictures of the whole place. Everything was so cute, from the  macaron lamps dangling overhead, the lovely doodles on the windows and walls, to the pretty little decorations all over the cafe. There was even a small spot where cutesy stuff like pouches, cards, and accessories were being sold. If you do get bored, there are stacks of board games that you can play with your friends all placed in one corner. You can also place your calling cards on their pin board.

Anyhoo, on to the desserts and drinks we ordered. So many macarons, I don't even know which one to order. We just shared our macarons so we could each get a taste of the different flavors. We ordered these flavors: salted caramel, chocolate mint, smores, and tiramisu. I also ordered the creme brulee cheesecake for us to try it out. For the drinks, we all ordered the butterbeer latte for the name of the drink really caught our attention. Maybe we would be transported to Hogsmeade in Hogwarts when we try this drink haha fat chance!

Here's a breakdown of what I thought of our orders:

Chocolate Mint Macaron: Minty Goodness! Tasted really well with the chocolate filling.
Tiramisu Macaron: Yummy combination of coffee and cocoa!
S'mores Macaron: Love how the chocolate, marshmallow, and graham all meshed well together.
Salted Caramel Macaron: It's a little too salty for my taste. I didn't even taste the caramel. Maybe those who like salty food would be more agreeable with this flavor.
Creme Brulee Cheesecake: The cheesecake was really soft and the hardened caramel tasted really sweet.
Butterbeer Latte: If you're wondering what's inside the butterbeer drink, it's not really mixed with butter and beer. It just tastes like a sweet caramel drink with whipped cream on top.

My whole experience was really nice, and I would definitely come back and try the other macaron and drink flavors. I would want to try out the flavors that others are raving about like the ensaymada and bibingka. So till then!

Ciao!
